Jason had many opportunities to learn and expand his knowledge and capabilities during his time at the Company. He gained important operations experience in virtually every aspect of the Company working in the shop, fabricating, operating equipment, crushing aggregates, quality control, managing construction and building projects. Over time he proved himself a capable leader and made a significant contribution to the Company. The education Jason received plus the values and skills he developed became the building blocks he continues to employ in business today.
In 2003, Floyd Meldrum sold the Company to a large multinational corporation, Aggregate Industries. Jason remained with the successor company where his in-depth knowledge of the Company, its’ clients and capabilities led to immediate opportunity. He was soon tabbed by senior management to oversee quality control of the aggregate business, which operated 17 major sites throughout the Las Vegas Valley at the time. His management responsibilities included assuring quality control of material specifications and compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations. He gave direction and guidance to third party consultants and provided detailed reports documenting full compliance with environmental regulations. Even with increasing demands on his time and energies at work, Jason was able to pursue his college education attending University of Nevada Las Vegas. Soon, the successor company management moved Jason into estimating and he worked full-time successfully calculating and tracking quantities of material supplied and removed from the Eschelon Las Vegas and City Center Projects, two of the most important resort developments on the Las Vegas Strip over the last decade.
Jason’s departure from Aggregate Industries, allowed him to reunite with his grandfather at the Meldrum Group, developing several industrial properties in Clark County and North Las Vegas which Mr. Meldrum has acquired over the years. Within a short time, Jason was effectively managing entire projects, working closely with local governmental agencies including the Clark County Department of Air Quality, the Southern Nevada Health District, municipal Zoning and Building Departments, plus an extensive number of State and local Public Works agencies.
Today, Jason Jensen serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Meldrum Group. His responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the company activities from initial project conception, negotiating contracts, permitting, environmental compliance, construction management through final completion and overseeing property management. His expertise in understanding federal, state and local government regulations and requirements; plus, his ability to maintain solid relations with a multitude of government entities are valuable characteristics of his leadership style.
In addition, Jason serves on the Board of Directors for Apex Holding Company which owns and controls 1,250,000 Acres of land in the Apex Industrial Park. Jason also participated in the Apex Technical Assistance Panel along with other key stakeholders, the City of North Las Vegas, and the Urban Land Institute to assess and set a vision for the future of Apex.
